JIMMY WARNER DESIGN,
CAFÉ NOIR (not about any cafe in particular)
What are they selling at Cafe Noir?
It's likely a bill of goods already sold
but the buyer is still debating
why he bought it. Politics maybe?
New ideologies, religions, or ways to
undo them, rate them, score them,
put them to music. I don't claim to know.
Sales persons at Cafe Noir are vague,
they have to be, because they are
not concerned that it's all a crock,
Mc Everybody wants the same thing.
"We sell good atmosphere, you like!"
These things are available at one
venue or the one down the block,
the one uptown or downtown, one
in New York or Peoria, and Tunisia.
Slovenia has a good selection also,
though not as good a credit rating.
Here you'll find every urban consumer,
political hack, cowboy culture biased,
rebel based, gender savvy iconoclast
you would ever want or need to meet.
I go to Cafe Noir now and then, where
else is there to learn how to search
for meaningful reality, new friends,
find answers to burning questions,
and a link to the culture of sameness,
that banality that helps us keep a grip
on our mental furniture, a gauge to
remind us, despite the novel scene,
just how old ARE we? One thing you
will not see at Cafe Noir is the truck
parked in the rear full of fresh turnips.
I am not trying to denigrate any business.
I am merely exploring the mystery that
is readily for sale anywhere you look.
