How Many Metaphors
recently read at MENSPEAK, art6, 06-29-08

How many metaphors tucked inside your head does it take to give you an edge, to make you
able to leverage the world of thought and action?

If only there WERE a place to stand.

There was the Piscean Age, the peace chase,
man in pieces, what set of metaphors will rule the next epoch, Aquarius, a querulous age for certain, a futuristic time of change or dispassionate dispatch of human beings, a glacial age
old man winter or  Uranus the old magician
ending global warming with a scientific wand?

We who practice are not afraid.

You live from one epiphany to the next driven
by tragedy and disappointment. The muse Clio with her dot matrix journal beams into the world
to anyone watching with a care at all about who
we become - and then she sings about it ... or

gets booted off the idol show.

History likes to erase itself with song and myth, fables of stronger reform and deadlier medicine. Truth radiates beauty, they say, while truth in the form of science may have us glow in the dark.

Gas tanks glowing in the dark.
